　　江湖中人尊称为“盗帅”的楚留香（郑少秋饰）以盗宝绝技闻名天下，而他盗宝只为救贫扶弱，盗亦有道。这位武功盖世的传奇人物，更是潇洒倜傥、风度翩翩，是每一个少女心中的梦中情人。温柔如水、聪明伶俐的红颜知己苏蓉蓉（赵雅芝饰）一直伴其左右，更对楚留香痴心一片。可惜楚留香只把她当妹妹看待，颇为怜爱。楚留香在追查五大武林高手离奇被杀的真相期间，结识了敢爱敢恨的侠女沈慧珊（汪明荃饰），被其独特的气质所吸引。怎料武林风起云涌，一时间楚留香遭受到江湖各大势力莫名的围捕攻击，楚留香深感事出跷蹊，遂重现江湖，决定大开杀戒。
　　由香港无线电视于1979年推出的《楚留香》，在当年创下万人空巷的收视狂潮，堪称影视史上的经典之作。由郑少秋刻画的楚留香成为最深入人心的香帅形象，赵雅芝扮演的苏蓉蓉更是让人难以忘怀。本剧集基于古龙笔下《铁血传奇》内容改编而成，但在原著故事情节的基础上进行了演绎。

　　第五个季节集中在媒体行业。巴尔的摩太阳报面对利润的下滑、记者和新闻的数量减少、新闻质量下降的困境，如何报道被杀流浪者的新闻专题。
　　第四季结束后的十五个月，市长Carcetti削减警局预算缩减教育赤字迫使案件调查中止。McNulty回到重案组，通过伪造证据制造了流浪者连环杀人案。暗自联系记者，得到社会关注，最终争取到市长支持查案。McNulty 将所得资源分配给警局的侦探使得多个案件取得重大进展……

　　绅士冉阿让（多米尼克·威斯特 Dominic West 饰）因为偷窃了一条面包而被判了20年的有期徒刑。出狱后，被困顿生活逼得走投无路的他被好心的主教收留，可是，未能经得住内心阴暗面考验的冉阿让却偷走了主教家的银烛台。被捕后，主教为了保护冉阿让，遂承认是自己主动赠与对方烛台，主教这一举动彻底的感化了冉阿让，令他决定洗心革面做个好人。
　　时光匆匆流逝，曾经的囚犯如今已成为德高望重的镇长，可即便如此，嫉恶如仇的警长沙威（大卫·奥伊罗 David Oyelowo 饰）也一直没有放弃过对于冉阿让的追踪。为了弥补自己曾经的过错，冉阿让答应妓女芳汀（莉莉·科林斯 Lily Collins 饰），在她死后照顾她的女儿珂赛特（艾丽·巴姆博 Ellie Bamber 饰），而此时，沙威步步紧逼的脚步令冉阿让和珂赛特不得不踏上了隐姓埋名不断逃亡的旅途。
